Goodbye Orem-Hello Oak City

I wanted to do a quick post but don't have much time. Tonight is our first night in our new house! On Monday the movers came and boxed everything up; on Tuesday they loaded it all in the truck, and unloaded it all today. I'm so glad we are finally finished (except for the unpacking part :( ). I am excited to redecorate again and make our house feel like a home. I will post pictures later when I get it done and I have more time.
We are trying to save money so we (Tom) decided we don't need internet here. :( I was REALLY bummed! I am going to try to talk him into it so we'll see. Once we get settled and figure our finances out with his new job maybe we can fit it in somewhere. Tom's parents and his brother both have internet so I'm going to try to post when I'm there or whenever I can.

I will post more soon of our new house and all the other fun things we have been doing!

Yes, It's true!

For those of you that have been wondering,

YES, WE ARE MOVING TO DELTA!

Or at least somewhere around there, Oak City, Sutherland, etc. We haven't found a place yet but hopefully soon! We were supposed to be moving to Idaho; we're still moving but now it is to Delta. I'll fill you in on how everything happened:

Tom's company he is currently working for, BCS, asked Tom and I if we would be willing to relocate our family to Pocatello, Idaho for 2 years so that Tom could take care of a job up there. We thought and thought about it and weren't sure if it was something we wanted to do. We would be leaving all of our family, our ward, and our awesome friends here. I felt like it was a good thing because I was ready for a change. Tom didn't agree as much but he said if I felt good about it that we would do it. So on a Friday we met with Tom's boss and told him we would be willing to move, and the date was set for Feb. 1st. That following Tuesday Tom got a phone call from the Power Plant out in Delta asking him to come in for an interview. This is something Tom has been waiting for for over 3 years! In order to work there you have to pass a big test, and the test only comes around every few years. Tom took the test back when we first got married and passed it. Then his name was put on a list of guys that are potential employees so when they need to hire someone they call people from this list. THIS WAS 3 YEARS AGO! So we always kept that option open but after this long we started to wonder it the call would ever come. When Tom got the phone call he was shocked and didn't know what to do since we had just committed to move to Idaho 4 days before. We also didn't know if he would be hired to work for IPP in Springville or Delta either. So at this point everything was up in the air since we could be moving to Idaho, Springville, or Delta. And you know me, I hated not knowing if I needed to pack up my house or leave everything-it was driving me crazy! We prayed about it and talked about it ALOT and decided that if Tom got a job at the Power Plant it would be the best thing for our family to do, and a huge step for the future. Tom interviewed the next Tuesday and was offered the job. :) We were both VERY nervous to talk to his boss at BCS, but we knew that we were making the right choice for our family. At first the news didn't go over well, and it took a day or so for things to cool down. But his boss is a GREAT GUY so he ended up realizing that we were doing what was right for us and he apologized and said if Tom ever needed his job back that it would be there for him. :)

Tom and his family are excited for us to move there. I am excited too but think it is going to be a big adjustment for me! It will be alot more difficult to go shopping! :( But in a way it will be a good thing for me too!

We as a family feel so lucky, grateful, and humbled to have both of these GREAT job opportunities come available in this time of economical hardship in our world. We know the Lord looks our for us and is always there to POUR out his blessings upon us!

So there you have it, we are soon going to be Delta Rabbits!

Christmas & New Years

We had a great Christmas this year! We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at my parents in Mona. It was fun to be with my family and watch them open presents on Christmas morning. On Saturday we went to Delta and stayed until Sunday. We took Sierra swimming and she LOVED it! I was very suprised this Christmas when I unwrapped a sewing maching that Tom had gotten for me. I have wanted one forever so it was the perfect gift! I also got a hot chocolate maker from my brother and I have used it pretty much every day since then. :) Sierra loved all their presents so we must have done good. She pushes her vacuum around and thinks she is cleaning. We took a picture of her standing in one of her gift bags-she thought it was so funny that she was inside!

We spent New Years at Tom's sister Jody's house with all of Tom's family. We watched tv, played some games and pool, ate ALOT, and all the grandkids got to break a pinata. We had a really good time! On New Years day we all went sledding in Eureka. It turned out to be perfect weather and no one got hurt! :) The hill was HUGE so I only went down once. After that I stuck to getting pulled behind the 4 wheeler. lol It turned out to be an awesome day and we were glad we got to spend the night with Tim and Brooke.

We have such a great family and we have tons of fun with them. We feel so grateful for all the ways the Lord blessed our family in 2009. We are excited for 2010, and all the excitement there is in store for us!

Gus Gus

We got a new dog! His name is GUS and he's a Yorkie. Isn't he so cute? He is almost 4 and is house trained and everything. Tom's sister had 3 dogs and wanted to give him to family so we said we'd take him. I have always wanted to little house dog that could be my friend and be with me since I'm home so much. He is my little buddy and he goes with us everywhere. Sierra absolutely loves him too! What a great 'early' Christmas present! :)

We've been missing out!

It's been almost a month since I last updated my blog-wow I'm such a slacker! I have alot of little things to write about so I hope it all makes sense!

Thanksgiving-This year was our year to spend with the Taskers in Delta. Tom's mom made some really yummy food! We went shooting too (a Thanksgiving tradition) which was fun but cold. That night we came home and prepared to go shopping on BLACK FRIDAY-it was my first time ever! Brooke, Nancy, and I left the house at 3:30 am to head to Kohls. The guys took Sierra to Walmart at 4 am so they could stand in line to get a PS3. Tom stood in line for the PS3 while Tim stood in line for Rockband. Tim was #17 in line, and when 5:00 came they started handing it out and they only had 16! So Tim missed it by 1! How often does that happen? We were able to get most of what we wanted, and by the end of the day we were all exhausted, even Sierra.

I wanted to write about a few things i'm thankful for:

*Tom-he works so hard everyday and makes it so I can stay home with Sierra. I am SO grateful for that! I love you babe!
*Sierra-she is such a sweet and fun little girl! I'm so glad that Heavenly Father sent us such a perfect little girl-I love you!
*Friends-We have so many fun friends to hang out with.
*Family-We have some of the greatest family in the world-they are always willing to help us out when we need it.
*A House-Our house isn't big but is perfect for what we need. It had a bed, toilet(yes I am thankful for toilets) and it keeps us warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

There are so many other things I could write about but if I wrote about everything this post would be ginormous (it probably already is ) :)

Tom-Tom is almost finished with school for the semester, and I CAN'T WAIT!His last final is Dec. 15th. As soon as he gets home from work he always has to leave for school so we hardly ever see him. He has 2 more quizzes and 2 more finals and then he is DONE! Wahoo! At least for now. :(

Me-I have been working on making a quilt for our bed that has camo and a cabin theme on it. I'll post pictures as soon as I finish it. I have been trying to help Tom with his PHIL2050 class by writing some of his papers :) and making study guides so he can take the tests. It is alot of work! I finally managed to get our Christmas tree up last week. We decided to change the decorations this year for Sierra so we don't have and glass ones. So far everything is plastic or felt-it has turned out really cute! You can's see very good from this picture but it has red, brown and cream ornaments with pinecones. I'm making a tree skirt too that matches but it's not quite done yet.

Sierra-Sierra is getting cuter and cuter everyday-we love her SO much! She says please for everything and then says thank you. :) She has recently learned 'doe'-which is her way of saying no but she puts a D at the front. If she gets mad she says 'doe doe doe DOE!' She wore her fuzzy christmas dress to church on sunday with her hat. After church I took a picture of her but she wouldn't wear her hat. :( She was trying to walk in Tom's work boots and I thought is was so cute. You can see the Christmas lights in the picture-it's an extra strand that Sierra had been dragging around the house for the last week! :) She really loves the lights.

That's about is for now, we are just busy finishing Tom's classes and getting ready for Christmas!

Good Friends

Wow-everyone mark this on your calendar because this is my first official post! :) I love reading everyone else's blogs but when it comes down to mine I never know what to blog about!

So here it goes....

I have been amazed at the impact friends have had on me throughout my life-they are some of the greatest blessings we have! Since I have been married I haven't keep contact with my friends as much as I should. Maybe this is because we all are going our own ways and are doing different things. Lately I have been trying to keep up with what's going on with my friends through Facebook and Blogging and it has been so fun to see what they are up to! My mom asked me to play on her volleyball team every Wednesday night so I have been able to reconnect with some old friends there too! (Which by the way playing volleyball again has been SO much fun!) I have also met alot of great friends in my ward and they have been such a support to us. It is fun to see them at church each week and be together at ward activities-

One specific friend I am grateful for today is my friend Jen. I met her through Tom's friend Chace from work-she is his wife. It is amazing how much we are alike! (And how much our husbands are alike too. LOL) Over the past while we have done alot of things together and its amazing how, in a way, we just 'clicked'. She is such a great friend-I know I can tell her anything and she will listen and understand. Thanks so much Jen for being a great friend! And to all my other friends too-thanks for helping me get where I am!
